Where’s winter?

Australia has experienced record temperatures for autumn with some of the warmest days basking as if it is summer. The warmer than usual weather is correlated with the Pacific Oscillation Index, which brings drier, associated El Nino events. According to the Bureau of Meteorology, for the month of June there is a more than 70% higher chance of exceeding median maximum temperatures. That means drier conditions, especially for plants and animals or simply for our sake, less favourable conditions for planting. Read more here…
