Healthy Land and Water (HLW) is an independent organisation working to improve the sustainable use of land and waterways in South-East Queensland. HLW uses evidence-based knowledge, innovative tools and its extensive networks to reduce the pressures on our natural environment and provide best-practice scientific advice to inform waterway and landscape investment.
HLW works closely with the Gold Coast Catchment Association on restoration projects in all hinterland valleys. These projects are focussed on restoring the ecological integrity and physical structure of critically endangered lowland subtropical rainforest, which provides habitat for many threatened wildlife species. HLW has also recently initiated a Migratory Shorebird project which will protect shorebird roosting sites and provide accurate counts of some of the rarest birds found in Australia.
